Biography

Isaac Tomlinson was born about 1781 (based on date of death and age at death). He is the son of Josiah Tomlinson and Anna Shelton.

There is very little evidence to connect the grave of this Isaac Tomlinson to either Polly Curtis Tomlinson and her daughter Sarah Tomlinson except the presence of the grave in Newton's Zoar Cemetery. No other conflicting evidence was found.

Marriage

Isaac Tomlinson, Captain (1787 - 1842) maried Polly Ann Curtis (1783 - 1873), Oct 28 1799. Their 3 children were:[1]

Sarah Tomlinson, b Mar 6 1801 m. Charles Chapman of Newtown son of Judge Asa Chapman. She was a woman of uncommon intelligence and activity.
Ann Betsey Tomlinson, b. Oct 18 1803, m. Peter Morton; resided in New York City and had several children; she being very much like her sister Sarah. She died 1846.
Josiah Curtis Tomlinson, b. Jan 8 1806 m. Charlotte Lewis Rogers of Cincinnati, Ohio; had 3 children who died young. He died 1839 of fever in Missouri. His widow now resides in Brooklyn, NY

Death

Isaac Tomlinson died Dec. 1, 1841, Newton, Fairfield, CT He was buried at Zoar Cemetery, Newtown, Fairfield, CT Much of his headstone is illegible, however the date Dec 1, 1841 and Age 60 is still able to be read. This stone is broken off at the base and fell face down. It was turned for the photograph and returned to its original position.
