Biography

(Not the composer)

From 1577, a Vicar Choral at St. David's Cathedral.

In 1586 he was expelled from his Cathedral post as a result of misdemeanour. He ran away to sea and was subsequently killed on board The Revenge, Grenville’s ship, in 1591 in the Battle of Flores. Tennyson’s poem The Revenge recalls those events.
