Arthur was born on the 13th of January 1898 in Hammersmith, London, England. [See 1939 Register, below.]

In the 1901 census Arthur (age 3) was a son of Joseph Tindell, a bricklayer, and Harietta Tindell. They lived in Hammersmith, London, England.^[1]

In the 1911 census Arthur (age 13) was the son of Joseph James Tindell at 51 Angel Road, Hammersmith, London, Hammersmith, London, England.^[2]

During the First World War (1914-1918), Arthur was a Private in the Labour Corps. His regiment number was 547238.^[3]

On 21 April 1923, when he was 25 yrs old, Arthur, married Kathleen Stanbridge in St Katherine, North Hammersmith, Hammersmith and Fulham, England.^[4]
