Thomas Thynne was born on 25 January 1765, the son of Thomas Thynne, 1st Marquess of Bath and his wife, Lady Elizabeth Cavendish Bentinck, and he was educated at Winchester and St John's College, Cambridge.[1]).

He married 24 April 1794 at St George's, Hanover Square, the Hon. Isabella Elizabeth Byng, third daughter and co-heir of George Byng, 4th Viscount Torrington and his wife, Lady Lucy Boyle. She was born 21 September 1773, and died 01 May 1830 in Grosvenor Square, London.[2]

Thomas Thynne, born 09 April 1796, held courtesy title of Viscount Weymouth, died 16 January 1837 at Shanks House, Dorset, having married 11 May 1820, Harriet Matilda Robbins, (born 18 November 1800, died 18 June 1873 at Florence), daughter of Mr Thomas Robbins, she remarried Count Inghirami[4];
Henry Frederick Thynne, born 24 May 1797, succeeded his father as 3rd Marquess of Bath;
Reverend Lord John Thynne, born 07 November 1798, Doctor of Divinity, of Haynes Park, Bedfordshire, Canon of Westminster, married 02 March 1824, Ann Constantia Beresford, daughter of Reverend Charles Cobbe Beresford (of family of Earls of Waterford), and had issue;
Lady Louisa Thynne, born 25 March 1801, married 05 July 1823, Henry Lascelles, 3rd Earl of Harewood, (born 11 June 1797, died 22 February 1857), and had issue 13 children[5] ;
Lieutenant-Colonel Lord William Thynne, born 17 October 1803;
Lord Francis Thynne, born 20 January 1805, died 29 May 1821;
Lord Edward Thynne, born 25 January 1807, Cornet in Royal Wiltshire Yeomanry Cavalry, married (1) 08 July 1830, Elizabeth Mellish (died 06 March 1849), eldest daughter of William Mellish, Esq. of Woodford, Essex; (2) 04 July 1853, Cecilia Anne Mary Gore, only daughter of Charles Arthur Gore, Esq;
Lord George Thynne, born 25 December 1808, died 19 June 1832;
Lady Charlotte Anne Thynne, born 10 April 1811, married 13 August 1829, Walter Francis Montagu-Douglas-Scott, 5th Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry, (born 25 November 1806), and had issue;
Reverend Lord Charles Thynne, born 09 February 1813 Grosvenor Square, London, Rector of Longbridge and Kingston Deverill, Wiltshire 1837-52, Canon of Canterbury 1845-1852, renounced Church of England and seceded to Church of Rome, ordained Deacon March 1886, died 11 August 1894 at Ditton Park, Slough, Buckinghamshire, buried 15 August 1894 Old Church, Mortlake, Surrey; married 18 July 1837 St George's, Hanover Square, Harriet Frances Bagot (born 26 July 1816 Rectory, Blithfield, Staffordshire, died 5 January 1881 40 Redcliffe Gardens, South Kensington, London), eldest daughter of Hon. and Right Reverend Richard Bagot, Lord Bishop of Bath and Wells, and Lady Harriet Villiers[6] ; and had issue
