Biography

Bishop was born in about 1772. ^[1] At the Assizes in Norwich on 26 July 1790, he was sentenced to seven years transportation for stealing, with Charles Barwick, five spotted silk handkerchiefs from a shop. ^[2] Bishop was aboard the William and Ann which anchored in Sydney Cove on 28 August 1791, as part of the Third Fleet. ^[3]

He was living with Ann Germaine by 1804 and two years later was renting 20 acres of land in the Hawkesbury area. ^[4]

In 1921, Bishop was named in a list of new settlers receiving grants of land. ^[5]

He received his Certificate of Freedom in 1823. ^[6]
