Biography

Thomas Thompson is a part of US Black heritage.

Thomas was born in 1855, the son of Thomas, Sr. and Sarah Phillips Thompson.

He married Sarah Louisa Anderson on Dec. 28, 1876 in Manhattan. They had at least 4 children all born in New York. Several of the children were not listed by first name on their NY State birth registries. There was a girl born on July 2, 1877 and another girl born on February 14, 1879. Son Walter Edward was born on May 25, 1880. Daughter Grace Louise was born on February 19, 1891.

According to the 1870 US Census, Thomas was living with his father, Thomas, and his siblings, all of whom were born in New York. Brother George was born in 1857; brother James was born in 1860; sister Harriet was born in 1863; and sister Mary Jane was born in 1867. Thomas Sr. Is employed as a hotel porter. The family is living with David and Mary Johnson, a couple in their 60's at the time. There is no indication of a relationship between the Johnsons and the Thompson families.

Thomas was a musician.

According to the 1910 US Census, Thomas was divorced and living with a widowed border. He was still employed as a musician.

He passed away in 1916.
