Biography
Peter was born at Copenhagen, Denmark in 1857. His parents were Johan Vilhelm Thidex and Helene Marie Stenid. [1] [2]

He was christened at Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark on 13 December 1857. [4] [5]
He was confirmed at Frederiksberg, København, Denmark on 1 October 1871. [6]
He married Mary Jane Summerhayes in the district of Young, New South Wales on 29 December 1886. [7]
Thay had 5 children. [8]
Mary passed away in 1900.
He remarried. He married Harriet Jane Tweedie at Wallerawang on 19 August 1903. [9]
He passed away at Portland, New South Wales, Australia in 1934. [10]
Research Notes
- His birth surname was "Thidex", but it apparently changed over time to "Tidex".
- The following information was provided by one of Peter's descendants - Ole Poulsen: "Peter's parents were Johan Vilhelm Thidex and Helene Marie Steenild. She died and he married her sister, Nicoline Thidex born Steenild. Peter had 2 sisters, Nicoline Jensine Clausen (born Thidex) and Johanne Marie Thidex. (She was adopted by Johan and Helene as their own child). Nicoline Jensine Clausen was married to coachman Gustav Adolph Causen."
- Some additional information/question from Ole Poulsen: " Did peter have a son Otto who immigrated to Florida USA?" Apparently, Ole's mother used to sometimes talk of her uncle Otto from America. She said that he came there from Australia where he was a gold digger. He once gave her a small lump of gold. (Note - There is no apparent record of Otto Tidex (or Thidex) born in New South Wales between 1886 and 1923 as at 18 November 2023 - Nigel Clark).
