Hi, Emma,

I see you are gradually adding profiles to your family tree. Isn't it great to see the family "grow" as more people are added? I would like to ask that you include at least one source citation, however, whenever you create a profile. Most of those that I have seen have simply the "default" source of "Sources will be added by [you] by [such-and-such date], but none of them have yet been sourced.

A really easy way to look for sources is to use the "Research" button on the bottom right side of any profile. (You'll have to add your WT log in again to access it.) Then click the button for any of the source sites that you have a membership to. (Most of us use FamilySearch, since it's a free site.) That will bring up a list of sources that match or might match the person you've entered and give you a site to cite. If you'd like some help, just hit "reply" to this comment and it will come to my mailbox. I'll be happy to help.

We were all once new WikiTreeers, and there's not one of us who didn't make mistakes, ask for help, and get it from a multitude of wonderful people!

Hi, Emma

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hi Emma, I've taken the liberty of "tidying up" the profile for your great-grandfather Edward Roper (1882-1966). Please do feel free to undo what I've done if it isn't helpful, or to ask if it doesn't make sense. I felt the profile had got rather confused through different people adding things to it during the discussion on G2G, and it was hard to see what we know, and what records had been shown to be for someone else. I haven't removed anything - just moved it around and added a bit of explanation, and a link to your question on G2G, so anyone finding it later can see what what was said.
