Hi Dave, I've just noticed that you've created a duplicate profile of Mary Womack, wife of Francis Blomefield. I have proposed a merge which you will need to approve in order that the two profiles become one. As wikitree is a global one tree project we aim to have only one profile per person. When you create a profile, particularly for someone who is moderately well known or connected, it's a good idea to do a search to see if the profile already exists. Cheers, Elizabeth

Hi Dave.

I noticed that you're working on pre-1700-era profiles. This is just a reminder that certifying to work on these types of profiles means that you agree to add valid sources as outlined in the Pre-1700 Certification Quiz. You can also use this link to the England Projects approved list of sources https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:England_Project_Reliable_Sources or you can ask them for help at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:England If you need help with this, our G2G Forum is a great place to start. You can get there by clicking the link on the Help menu.

Thanks! John

Hello Dave,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hi Hilary,

Thanks for the clarification. Over the last 20 years or so I've put together my family tree and with help from a number of relations and just about every genealogy site known to man. I've had nearly all the details cross checked by a couple of people and with their input I'm pretty confident in have it correct (with the exception of a few vague dates and places). So trying to specifically say what the original source had been is probably a combination of many inputs and I could not tell you exactly what they are. I could just say FamilySearch but that would only be half the story. How should I handle this? On another issue you might help me with is that my Womack tree goes back to around 1450 and I'm hitting a few roadblocks. People have input questionable details and while I've contacted them in private messages, what do I do if any of them choose not to respond?. BTW The input they have put in "source" is also questionable.

Regards

Dave

Given your English ancestry, you might find it beneficial to join the England Project. You will benefit from discussions with others and learn from more experienced members about how we document the sources for profiles that we manage. Just answer this post on the G2G forum.

Hi, Dave!

We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.

Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.

Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.
