Biography

Peter was born in 1908. He was the son of John Teevan and Mary Tracy. He passed away in 1992.

Peter and Nora Teevan (nee Geraghty) lived at 62 Secor Boulevard, Pearl River, NY. I visited with them in 1974, while working on a student J1 work visa.

His draft card and naturalization form shows Thomas William Lynch, cousin, as next of kin.

Peter married Norah Gillan in Hempstead, Garden City Long Island, 23-Feb-1946, which was reported in "The Journal News from White Plains, New York" newspaper of 8-April-1946. From that newspaper: "Now making their home on North Middletown Road, Pearl River, are the former, Nora Gillan and Peter A. Teevan, who were married on Feb. 23 in St. Joseph's Church, Garden City L. I. The bride, given in marriage by her brother, Mark Gillan, wore a gown of white Satin with a veil fashioned from antique point Irish lace, and carried a bouquet of white roses and freesia. Miss Betty Gillan of Washington D. C. was the maid of honor, and John Lynch the best man. The ushers were John J. Murphy, Joseph Shields, John McCarthy and Michael McDermott. A large reception was held at the home of Mrs. John J. Murphy, of Hempstead, sister of the bride. Mr. Teevan has returned to his position at Rockland State Hospital, after serving with the U.S.N.C.B. in Iceland, Scotland, England and France, receiving his honorable discharge in September."
