Biography

Headlie Shipard Taylor was born on 7 July 1883 in Bungowannah, New South Wales, Australia, the son of Mary Jane Taylor (nee Shipard) and Phillip Culling Taylor.^[1]

He was a wheat farmer, inventor and farming machine manufacturer.^[1][2]

He married Ruby Maud Howard on 26 March 1918 at the Baptist Church in Goombarganah, New South Wales.^[1] They had three sons and two daughters.^[1]

Headlie died on 22 March 1957 in Sunshine, Victoria.^[1][3] He was cremated,^[1] with remains interred at Fawkner Memorial Park in Fawkner, Victoria.^[4]

In 2018, the town of Henty, New South Wales unveiled a bronze sculpture of Headlie in his honour. The statute depicts Headlie working on part of a harvester.^[2]
