Unsure of your link but maybe through her first husband Ronlad James McDonald. She has led me a merry dance today. From what I can see on Ancestry and other places most trees have varying Dorises. I think I have finally sorted the right one by eliminating the other two Stokes ones. A Doris McDonald did marry a Ronald James Stokes but was another one. I was thrown as this marriage was early 1945 but our Doris gave birth to a stillborn named Lynette Painter under her maiden name in October 1945. That may have been the reason for the divorce. It is a pretty obscure relation to me but is part of my Cundy- Spicer extension. Victoria Cundy sister to my GGM Diana Cundy married Samuel Spicer and had a very large family. There are quite a few cross overs with other parts of my family and I DNA match to quite a few of these. Trying not to buy more transcripts for these distant relatives if possible.

ttps://www.dailyinfo.co.uk/feature/7967/michael-wellby-bequest. My sister has had our DNA done so it would be interesting to cross match that to to your DNA. Also have you read Montagu Sinclair Wellby's book" Through Unknown Tibet". He is a 1st cousin to my great grandfather William Henry Sharratt who emigrated to New Zealand in 1874. I am looking forward to hearing from you. I start mid year holidays from my Uni course in 2 weeks , and that would be an opportunity for me to add more of my research to our tree
Happy to discuss further anytime at [email address removed] Cheers David
The Dr Rev Roland Taylor who was burnt at the stake in 1555 by Bloody Queen Mary left a wife and 8 0r 9 children. Roland was one of triplets. I believe that some of the family may have fled to Armagh in that time to escape retribution . I don't have much evidence of this but I found a flag of a branch of Irish Taylors with the very unusual motif of three young identical boys in an chevron in it which was the family crest/motif of John Taylor Master of the rolls Roland's brother. I don't think its a coincidence. John Taylor
Thanks for that interesting info. It would be great to break the brick wall of the origins of my Armagh Taylors. Thanks for giving me this line of enquiry.
Are you connected to the Armagh Taylors?
Regards David Taylor Murwillumbah, New South Wales, Australia
I cant be sure that I am related to the Armagh Taylors, I have also hit a bit of a brick wall. Many Genealogy sites say that I am related to Dr Rev Roland Taylor 15 times removed through the male line but I am not sure until I can independently verify it. Many Taylors were protestants and were persecuted so they fled England or went into hiding which makes some branches very hard to trace. Capt. Thomas Taylor II 1574-1618 know as the (immigrant) is a very interesting link, I think that he had connections to Ireland and the U.S.A- if you can find a connection to him you have a good chance. I think that one has to take an assumption then try to prove it or diss-prove it. what ever turns up I have had a great journey and learnt so much about history. John Taylor
Have you done a Y_DNA test? If we're from the same Taylor male ancestry we' would definitely show up as a match on that and also perhaps break some brick walls for both of us. My haplogroup is R-BY73549 - yours would be very close even if we're separated by 500+ years.
I have an exact match with another Taylor in Western Australia. It looks like his ancestors were from a Townland (Drumcee) just a few kilometres from my Taylors at Ballynick. Either a single Taylor male came to Armagh as part of the plantations late 1600s and had 2 sons who founded our two lines or else two Taylor brothers came and founded them. We had previously been totally unaware of each others branches previously. Fascinating journey alright.
