Willard Ray "Wild Bill" Taylor, 72, of Morgantown, W.Va., passed away Monday, October 10, 2011, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born June 19, 1939, in Greer, W.Va., a son of the late Willard G. and Kathryn Blosser Taylor.
Mr. Taylor enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1960. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1960, achieving the rank of sergeant. He was honorably discharged in 1967. He finished his military career of nearly 20 years in the U.S. Navy in 1976. After his military career, he returned to Morgantown and worked for Yellow Cab Co. for nearly 40 years.
He was an avid accomplished bowler and pool shark. He loved to play bingo and rarely missed playing the lottery.
Mr. Taylor was a member of Morgantown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 548.
He leaves behind a special feline companion, Molly.
Surviving is his wife, Carolyn Rebecca Bowman Taylor of Morgantown; The other survivors are omitted for privacy.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Friday, October 14, in Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, Morgantown, with Pastor Matthew Chapell officiating. Burial will follow in West Virginia National Cemetery, Pruntytown, W.Va. Military rites will be accorded graveside by U.S. Navy Mid-Atlantic Region.[1]
