"John Thomas Tarr was born about 1820 in Maryland. At some point, he married Deborah Griselda Boyd (1820-1864). The couple had six children: Benjamin Franklin (1846-1930), Frances Elizabeth (1849-1911), James T. (1850-1906), John Thomas (1853-1854), George Buchanan (1856-1940) and Howard Tarr (1860-1862). After his first wife's death in 1864, he remarried a woman named Mary, and the couple had two children, David (1866-1876) and William Tarr (1868–1936). He purchased two plots in Baltimore Cemetery. In one, he and his son David are buried, and in the other his sons Howard and John Thomas, a Deborah Tarr (dates not corresponding with his first wife's death), a Jane B. Chenoworth and a James Boyd."
