Betty Thierjung, 67, of Route 1, Flemington (Galloway Community), passed away Wednesday (Dec. 9, 2009) at Grafton City Hospital.

Betty was born Nov. 22, 1942, in Mannington. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Richard Allen Thierjung, who passed on March 14, 2009. ... In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee and Kathryn Ann Talkington; her daughter, Karen DeLorenzo; and two brothers, Jackie and Tommy Talkington.

Betty graduated from Mannington High School Class of 1961 as valedictorian. Betty was married to Richard on Dec. 27, 1970, in Reno, Nev. She spent eight years in the U.S. Army and was later an English teacher in the public school system. In her free time, Betty enjoyed reading.

The family will receive friends at Bradley J. Mayle Funeral Home in Flemington today from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted today at 1 p.m. with Elder Charlene Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the West Virginia National Cemetery at Pruntytown.

The Thierjung family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Bradley J. Mayle Funeral Home in Flemington. [1]
