Biography
Emory Talkington was born April 1, 1858 and is the son of John Talkington and Polly Metz.[1] Emory grew up in Doddridge County, West Virginia along with twelve siblings; Hannah 'Hanka' Talkington, Mary Elizabeth Talkington, Albert Talkington, Benjamin Franklin Talkington, Cyrena A Talkington, Leonard Metz Talkington, Mary Catherine Talkington, Sarah Ann Talkington, Rachel Talkington, Syrus Marion Talkington, Dilemma Talkington and Abraham Talkington.[2][3]
Emory married Mary Virginia Sine September 21, 1882 and they made their home in Coal, West Virginia until her death July 14, 1937. Together they raised four children; Arlie Clarence Talkington, Erna P Talkington, Ernest Roy Talkington and Effie Adelaide Talkington. Emory died March 11, 1940[4] and is buried in Shinnston Memorial Park and Mausoleum, Shinnston, West Virginia.[5]
