I was born in Wroclaw, Poland in the year 2000. In the year 2005, my parents and I emigrated to England. That is where I've lived ever since. In the year 2022 I was awarded a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Football Coaching & Management. Currently, I am in the process of starting an MBA degree, which should be completed in Q4 of 2023.
When it comes down to my heritage/ancestry/DNA, I am always looking into my family tree and various sources so that I may find out more about my family's past. Both of my parents are Polish, but it seems like other nationalities start to come into play at my grandparents level.
The biggest issue so far has been my surname (Szeptucho), as there are practically no records anywhere for this surname. And if there are, I have probably already seen them. The reason for this is because we are the only family in the world with our surname. There is just under 30 of us alive, and I know all of the individuals. There is a possibility that there are more of us in Belarus/Russia, as that is where my GG was born, as well as his fathers before him. However, it is worth mentioning that the area he was born in used to belong to Poland before the Partitioning of Poland in the XVIII Century.
I am also very interested in finding out more about the (Baranowski) side of my family. This is because there are rumours on my mums side of the family that Baranowski-117 was a nobleman from Lithuania (My GG from mums side) who ran away with his wife (My GG) to Poland. This was as a result of his exile/banishment from the family because he married a low-born woman.
Additionally, I would also like to find out more about the (Kalita) side of the family. This is from my mothers dads side of the family. Both my mum and grandma have stated that Kalita-42 used to travel a lot to Russia as she supposedly had family there.
Furthermore, the (Lachner) side of my family also interests me as the only Lachners I have found originate from Hungary, Romania or Austria. More specifically, Lachner-60, my direct ancestor (5th Gen grandma), shows records of people with that name and surname from roughly the same time period in Hungary, which is why I would be keen on digging into this to possibly verify if it is her.
As for my DNA tests and results, both MyHeritage and 23&Me have given back roughly the same regions, but with significantly varied percentages.
MyHeritage: 1- East European (Poland, Hungary, Germany, Slovakia and Czechia) - 84.2% 2- Balkan - 14.3% 3- Finnish - 1.5%
23&Me: 1- East European (Poland, Ukraine, Russia) - 95.6% 2- Greek & Balkan' - 3.5% 3- Scandinavian' - 0.8% 4- Broadly European - 0.1%

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.
Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.
You mentioned that you don’t know much about your family tree yet. I assume you are new to genealogy. No problem! Every genealogist is a beginner at some point.
