OBITUARY: After a very brief illness Phoebe Swackhamer, wife of David Ryder, lot 8, Erin, passed peacefully away on Tuesday morning. She was the daughter of the late Jacob Swackhamer, of Churchill, and married her bereft husband sixty years ago last February. For many years the family resided in Acton, on the farm on which Beardmore Crescent now stands. Later they moved to the Hood farm at Guelph, and fifteen years ago settled in Erin. Of their nine children the following survive: Mrs. Lemuel West, Erin; James, Mrs. Minnie Wilson, and Charles, in Eramosa; Wesley, in Guelph, Mrs. John McKeown, Toronto; and Augustus in Erin. Mrs. Ryder was a member of the Congregational Church. The funeral will be held this afternoon at two o'clock, at Churchill Cemetery . - Acton Free Press, 27 Apr 1916, page 2, clm 2
