Biography
Find A Grave contains a photo of Joseph Strickland's headstone, born 10 Dec 1804, died 30 Aug 1896 and buried at Shaha Cemetery, Wanamaker, Ringgold County, Iowa. [1]. FAG lists Mary Martin as Joseph's wife; however, she is not listed in the 1860 census with Joseph (see below).
Marriage and Children
A bond of marriage between Joseph Strickland and Euphias McClain (the daughter of Michael McClain) occurred on 14 April 1862 in Madison County, Kentucky[2].
The following three children are listed for Joseph and Euphias in the 1850 census (see below):
- Elizabeth, c. 1835 in Indiana.
- Matilda, c. 1841 in Illinois. Matilda (Strictland) Merritt (1840-1907)
- Levi, c. 1842 in Illinois.
