  2. The rest of the inquistion reads, "Ankaretta daughter of the said John Lestraunge of Blakemere, knight, whom Richard Talbot, knight, has taken to wife, is aunt and kinswoman of the said Elizabeth, and her next heir, to wit, sister of the said John son of John Lestraunge."
The said Ankaretta is 22 years of age and more" (7 Richard II -- c.1384/5), "aged 35 years and more" (22 Richard II - c.1399/1400).
Richard Talbot has begotten two daughters, Elizabeth* and Mary, both of whom are still living." [2]
SIDE NOTE: It appears Richard's daughters should be his two eldest children. Change Unknown to Elizabeth, and make her older?

Am I to understand Elizabeth Strange married at 9 years old and then died a few months later before her 10th birthday?

When you put it that way, it’s not hard to imagine that in the 1300s, she may have been married off at such a young age, and died from any number of afflictions.

Childhood marriage was quite common in this period. So was childhood mortality.

Bree,

The IPM for her father in 1375 references her date of birth.
