Jacob was born in 1795. He was the son of John Strader and Frances Piatt. He passed away in 1860. River, and was building a 2nd sidewheeler,, Ben Franklin. He owned the Strader Steamboat Co, Cincinatti, with 23 steamboats. Owned the Strader's wharf which became Cincinatti Public Landing. He became Pres of Little Miami and the Columbus and Xenia RR lines. In the 1840's he worked with the OH legislature to include Cincinatti on the RR line connecting Baltimore and west eventually to San Francisco. He was pres of a commercial bank and founded a factory which fabricated cotton taken in exchange for food he sent to the south. Patron of Henry Clay Creveling. Resided in 1847, corner of 4th and Lawrence Streets, Cincinatti.
