Biography

Minerva was born on 23 Apr 1824 in Solon, Cortland, New York.

Minerva departed with the Allen Taylor Company on 5 July 1849. She arrived in Utah via the Mormon Pioneer Trail on 10 Oct. 1849. ^[1]

In 1850, Minerva (age 23) was living in Salt Lake, Utah with her presumed husband Christopher Merkley (age 42), Sarah Merkley (age 40, Nelson Merkley (age 22), and Louisa M. Merkley (age 1). Her birthplace was New York. ^[2]

She married David Buel Dille. By 1860, she was living with her new husband, David Dille, Elizabeth Dille (age 30), Arvis Dille (age 20), Ruth Dille (age 13), and Hyram Dille (age 1) in Cache, Utah Territory. ^[3]

Minerva died on 12 Sep. 1883. She was buried in Snowville Cemetery in Snowville, Box Elder, Utah. ^[4]

Biography

Minerva Stowell was born 23 April 1824 in Solon, Cortland, New York, the daughter of Augustus Oliver Artimus and Mary Stephen (Holmes) Stowell. She married Christopher Merkley on 24 January 1846 in Nauvoo, Hancock County, Illinois. She died 12 September 1883 in Curlew, Box Elder County in the Utah Territory.^[5]
