John William Stewart was born in 1943 in the United States. He was the son of William Stewart and his wife Opal Epperhart.
He was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in Vietnam.
He passed away in 2018.

SIERRA VISTA - John William Stewart was born June 14, 1943, in Morehead, Kentucky, to Opal Irene (Epperhart) Stewart and William Edwin Stewart.
John went home with Jesus on April 26, 2018.
He graduated from Chuckatuck High School in Virginia 1961 and attend Morehead State College in Morehead, Kentucky, for awhile.
In June 1962 he joined the U.S. Marines, then went to Parris Island, South Carolina, for basic training and to San Diego, California, for radio and electronics training.
He met his wife-to-be, xxxxx xxxxx xxxxxxx, on a five-church hayride 20 June 1963 and asked her to marry him 4 July 1963 and was married in Las Vegas, Nevada, 13 October 1963.
As a radio technician he went to Okinawa for 13 months, returned in January 1965 to San Diego as a radio instructor. Went to Vietnam in January 1968. Returned to Camp LeJeune, North Carolina, and was discharged in July 1968.
Worked at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio, for a contractor as a sr. electronics technician. April 1969 went to work for Digital Equipment Corp., a New England-based computer manufacturer. Was hired as a computer instructor. After 2½ years in Mass., he was transferred to field service in Michigan and worked there for 7 years. In July 1978 he transferred to Sierra Vista, in southeastern Arizona, where he worked independently as a remote field service engineer.
In 1956 John gave his life to the Lord at age 13 at a Youth for Christ Rally. April 1979, after years of doing his own thing, he rededicated his life to Christ, and our lives have now taken on a real fullness and completeness which we never had before. John was ordained as a Southern Baptist deacon in March 1983.
In July 1983 we bought a Honda Gold Wing motorcycle. We traveled most of the United States except Hawaii and Alaska. We are members of First Baptist Church of Sierra Vista. xxxxx and John sing in the choir, and xxxxx played in the handbell choir and John served in the Deacon Family Ministry Plan, plus a Bible study teacher. We both were quite active in many church activities. We are also both ham radio operators and enjoy activities there. We are very active in the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. John was the area representative for Arizona Chapter E here in Cochise County 1984 for many years, Then 1994 district director for the state of Arizona.
John and xxxxx have been married 54 years, and he will be forever loved and missed by his wife xxxxx sister, xxxx xxx; brother-in-law, xxx; and all our relatives.
John was preceded in death by his father, William Stewart; mother, Opal Stewart; mother-in-law, Dortha Reinert; father-in-law, Arthur Reinert, Sr.; and many other loved ones.
John's celebration of life memorial will be Saturday, May 19, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Sierra Vista, and also on Monday, May 21, 2018, at Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery, service at 10:00 a.m.
