Biography
Sarah A. Victoria Stewardson was born on 4 May 1898 in Virginia (possibly Wythe County). Her parents were Benjamin P. Stewardson and his wife, Mary Ann Luezinia (Crowder) Stewardson. Sarah was the second child and second daughter born to Benjamin and Mary.[1]
On 20 Oct 1915, Sarah married James Marcus "Jack" Horton in Wythe County.[2]
In the 1930 census, Sarah (age 31) was enumerated as the wife of James M Horton in Lead Mines, Wythe County, Virginia, United States. A young cousin, William, and the parents of Sarah's husband, James, were living with the couple.[3]

In the 1940 census, Sarah (age 41) was enumerated as the wife of James M Harton in Lead Mines, Wythe, Virginia. Sarah's widowed mother-in-law was still living with the couple. Sarah and James appear to have possibly adopted his young cousin, William, who is now listed as "son."[4]

Sarah died of metastatic breast cancer on 11 December 1973 in a nursing facility, Wesleyan Arms Inc., in High Point, Guilford, North Carolina. Her home residence was Foster Falls, Wythe County, Virginia.[5]
Sarah's husband, Jack followed her in death just a few months later, also dying of cancer. Jack died of carcinoma of the palate on 16 April 1974, in the same nursing facility where Sarah died.[6]
