By William Steward, Theophilus Gould Steward on page 95 a discussion of James Steward states that he was abused in his indentured arrangement and ran away and went to live with the Elijah Gould family. Perhaps their was confusion about his name.

*One child was Mary, born in 1842. She was married to First: Eli Gould and Second: his brother Theodore Gould (1830-1920))
