Biography

William Amos Stevenson was born 18 Sept. 1868 in or near Adrian, Hancock County, Illinois. I think he was born on the family farm near Adrian, as was usual for farm families at the time. He married Lois Electa Peterson 19 Nov. 1890 in Stewartsville, DeKalb County, Missouri. I understand that he was usually called "Will" or "William" by the family. He passed away in Independence, Jackson County, Missouri 27 Aug. 1952. US census info lists him as working as a farmer, a carpenter, and a barber. He was active in the RLDS Church (Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the denomination which is now called the Community of Christ).
