Hello David!

Thank you for joining us! I wanted to check in with you to see how things are going. How do you like WikiTree so far? Have the tips in the New Member How To Pages been helpful or have they left you with questions?

P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

Thanks for your message, Cheryl. I like WikiTree, particularly the collaboration aspect. The site itself is challenging to navigate, though that may only reflect the steep learning curve involved and the fact that I’m a beginner. I’m getting the hang of it.

Yes, the tips have been helpful, as is your suggestion of the RootsSearch, which I wasn’t aware of. The only other site I’ve used so far is FamilySearch, which seems a helpful source of records.

Going forward, is it best to post questions on G2G, or send them to individuals (several people have written with a welcome, like you, and have offered to answer questions). I’m sure I’ll have questions as I go along, and would like to know where to send them to.

Thanks again.

I see that newcomers are advised to introduce themselves on G2G, but I don’t actually see how to do so on G2G. Please advise. Thanks.

Hi David,

You can introduce yourself in the G2G forum. There you could create a new post to introduce yourself and tell about your interests. Down at the bottom where it says "Surnames and project tags," add the tags like Stevens, and/or surname(s) that you are interested in. Add tags for location(s) to get the attention of others who share the same interests.

I hope that helps. If you have any questions let me know.

Happy New Year! Laura
