Biography

Louis Stivin is on the Wall of Names at the Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville, Louisiana Plaque 6 Right, Le Bon Papa. Listed with Louis is his wife Marie Babin; two children Louis and Marie; and Francois Babin, his wife's brother.[1]

Louis Steven, son of Stanislaus Steven and Anne Colcein, was born about 1749 in Boston, Massachusetts Colony. He became a seaman and eventually married an Acadian woman in France, joining with the Acadians in 1785 as they emigrated to Louisiana. [2]

He married 3rd on 2 Jan 1783 to Marie BABIN, daughter of Simon & Anastasie TERRIOT; daughter Marie born 1783. With his 3rd wife and two children [sic], plus brother-in-law Francois BABIN, he was aboard "Le Bon Papa" bound for Louisiana.
