Jessie Elizabeth Stephens was born on 12 May 1889, in West Ham, Essex, England, to William Brodie Stephens and Martha Elizabeth Robinson.[1]

Jessie was recorded in the census in 1901, aged about 12, in 51 Clifton RD, West Ham, West Ham, England.
She was recorded in the census on 2 April 1911, aged 21, in Lynmouth Eastwood Road, Woodford, Essex, England.
It is known that Jessie worked for the famous singer Clara Butts, possibly as her servant.

The death certificate states she lived at 69 Star Lane and that her husband was William Walter Champion, electrical engineer. The informant to the death was listed as W. E. Hine, her daughter.[3]
