Biography

Paul was born in 1896. He was the son of Leopold Steiert and Sophie Birkenberger. His godparents were Gotthard Birkenberger and Maria Willmann neé Steiert, both siblings of his parents.^[1]

On 19 June 1928 he married Sophia Riesterer.^[1]

He passed away in 1951.^[2] He was interred on the Hinterzarten community cemetery in the grave, where later his wife and his son Albert were buried as well.^[3]

Research Notes

The unpublished Hinterzarten family book states his death as 29 October 1951.^[2] Since the baptism record only contains a note about his wedding,^[1] this probably was taken from a note his civil birth record.

Liehl,^[4] as well as a website about Engel-inn, the other name of their farm Kaspelhof, mention that his son Albert only took over the farm in 1962.^[5] Probably Paul's wife, who lived until 1975,^[3] ran the farm without him after his death.

In official documents, he's often referred to as Paul Steiert #3 or III, since he was the third living person with this name, after the person running Bankenhansenhof and the one running Jockeleshof.^[6]
