Dawson Hazen Steeves was born in 1809 in Edgetts Landing, Albert County, New Brunswick, Canada, son of John Steeves (1773 - 1858) and Jane (Beatty) Steeves (~1774 - 1848).

His siblings were:

  1. Olive (Steeves) Horsman (1796 - 1875)
  2. James Steeves (1799 - 1869)
  3. Ralph Steeves (~1801 - 1874)
  4. Catherine (Steeves) Lutes (1803 - 1892)
  5. Israel Steeves (1807 - 1879)
  6. John Leonard Beatty Steeves (1823 - 1894)

Dawson married Susan Steeves , daughter of James Steeves and Mary Ann Cameron. Their children were:

  1. John Wesley Steeves (1837 - 1914)
  2. Catherine (Steeves) Kinnie (1841 - 1914)
  3. Moses Steeves (1846 - 1931)
  4. Susan Elizabeth (Steeves) Beaumont (1849 - 1888)
  5. George Spurgeon Steeves (1857 - 1886).

Dawson married Mary Steeves , daughter of Alexander Steeves and Sarah Horsman, on 4 Nov 1863.

Dawson died in 1894 in Edgetts Landing aged ~85. He is buried in Edgetts Landing Greenhill Cemetery, Edgetts Landing.
