Biography

William Stedham is a part of US Black heritage.

William Stedham was born on 24 Nov 1925 in Oklahoma, United States, son of Ikey Boon and Alice Dancy.

The 1930 Census^[1] shows him at age 4 in the home of his parents in Hamilton Township, Okmulgee County, Oklahoma. The family is using the name Stedham or Stidham on this census. His father and most of the siblings went back to Boon after the death of his mother in 1932, but William continued to use Stedham.

He married Lorraine C. Simmons on 28 Feb 1948 in Tulsa County, Oklahoma.^[2]
They had five children including:

1. William M Stedham (1948–1996)
2. Alice Astoria (Stedham) Hunter (1949–2004) ^[3]

The 1950 Census^[4] at age 24 with his wife as lodgers in Tulsa, Tulsa County, Oklahoma. He is a porter for a hotel.

William died on 1 May 1972 in Beggs, Okmulgee County, Oklahoma,^{[5] [6] [7]} and is buried at the Beggs Cemetery in Beggs, Okmulgee County, Oklahoma.^[8]
