Biography

Emma was born in Lincoln County, Georgia according to her obituary. Her parents married in 1830 in Greenville County, South Carolina but they were living in Lincoln County when the 1830 census was enumerated.

The family returned to Greenville County in the late 1830s and remained there until after the 1850 census when the Stathams, Emma and her husband George W. Green relocated to Yalobusha County, Mississippi. George died there in November 1859 (Findagrave #65824188).

In March 1863 Barnett Statham, as Emma's trustee, sold her land in Yalobusha County, 822 acres known as River Dale and situated in Twp 23, Range 5E, Sections 30 and 31. She and her children and her father subsequently relocated to Randolph County, Georgia, where Emma died in 1869 at the age of 38.

Marriage and children: Emma married George Washington Green in Greenville County on 5 March 1846 (marriage notice). Their known children were:

- Samuel B. Green

- Infant daughter, name unknown: she appeared in their 1850 household only and presumably died in infancy.

- George Walter Green

- Helen E. Green

- Augustin S. Green, born on 10 March 1857, died on 9 May 1857, buried in Green Cemeter in Grenada, Grenada County, Mississippi (Findagrave # 65824294).
