Lucinda Stanly is a part of US Black heritage.

Lucinda was born September 25, 1838 in Craven County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of James Stanly, a member of a prominent local white family and Cathrine (Kitty) Leach. [1]

Lucinda was formerly enslaved by Allen G. Eubank and then became his life-long mate. All children born to Lucinda were fathered by Allen Eubank (except Nettie J. Stanly stated to be her daughter in 1920 Census - born about 1885 which was several years after Allen's death in 1877.)

Allen Eubank left Lucinda Stanly and their son Isaac W. Eubank as the executors of his vast estate which went through various stages from 1877 to 1887 when Probate was finally granted.

A man by the name of Willis Moore had a court case against Lucinda Stanly and Isaac Eubank in Craven County, North Carolina and she signed her name Lucinda Stanly on several of the documents within the lengthy file.

A lawyer named William Larch represented a minor child who was without a guardian, named Lillian E. J. Eubank who wanted $5,000.00 from Allen Eubank's estate -- her relationship has not been established or sorted out.[4]

The Stanly Building (sometimes referred to as the Eubanks Building) was a 2 storey brick commercial building located on a prime downtown corner and was built for Lucinda Stanly {aka Lucinda Eubank(s)}, a woman of color who owned extensive property in town, all left to her by her common-law husband Allen G. Eubank in 1877. It was built by her their son, architect, George C. Eubank(s) at 335 Middle Street in New Bern, Craven County and is still standing.[8][9]

Lucinda died on March 13, 1926 in New Bern, Craven County, North Carolina and buried there in Cedar Grove Cemetery on March 15th. Her son George Eubank was the informant and he gave her date of birth as September 25, 1838 and that she was widowed and a domestic. Her parents were James Stanley and Cathrine Leach, both born in Craven County, North Carolina. Cause of death was arterioschlerosis and myocarditis. [11]
