Biography

Dorcas Stanley was born about 1804 in North Carolina. [1] She was the daughter of Moses Stanley and Sarah "Sally" (West) Stanley.

On 22 February 1825 in Hopkins County, Kentucky, Dorcas married James M. Teague. They had 7 known children. The names and dates are listed in the History and Genealogy on Teague Pioneers of Christian County, Kentucky, page 74, as shown below. [2]

Note, the referenced book lists Moses and Jim as twins but census records seem to show otherwise. Their children, as listed on page 74:

  4. James K. "Jim" Teague, b. 1834 (Teague book shows born in 1832)

When the 1850 U.S. Census was enumerated in Hopkins County, Kentucky, Dorcas lived with her husband James, children and mother-in-law Mary Teague.[1] James household consisted of the following:
