Biography

Isabel was the daughter of Sir William Stanley[1] [2] of Hooton. "The Sequestration Papers of Thomas Pigott of Chetwynd" record Isabel's given name as Mabel.[3]

On 7th day before the Kalends of September, 1424, which was 26 August, at Frascati, Pope Martin V issued a mandate to the bishop of Lichfield, to dispense Robert de Legh, donsel, and Isabel Stanley, daughter of William Stanley, knight, of his diocese, to contract and solemnize marriage notwithstanding an impediment of quasi-affinity (impedimentum publice honestatis justicie) arising from the fact that Robert, when in or about his fifth year, and the late Isabel Savage (related to the above Isabel Stanley in the second degree of kindred), when in her seventh year, contracted espousals, Isabel Savage dying after cohabiting for eight years with Robert.[1]

Isabel was the second wife of Robert de Legh of Adlington, and they married sometime after 26 August, 1424.[1]

The Robert attached as her son was born when Isabel was two years old. He should be detached.

Removing marriage to John Warren and rejecting Unmerged Match with 499. This Isabel was 2nd cousin or 2nd cousin once removed to the Isabel who married John Warren. Different branch of the family.
