Elizabeth was born in Kentucky about 1821[1]. She was the daughter of William Stacy and Rebecca Proffitt. She married Hezekiah Blankenship in Tazewell, Virginia in 1837 [2][3]. Their children [1][4][5]:
CAUTION - there were multiple people named Hezekiah and Elizabeth Blankenship living around the same.
Elizabeth Temperence Blankenship, born 1841 in Missouri, married John C. Blankenship. [7]. The two Elizabeths are not related.
There is an Alabama marriage record for a Hezekiah Blankenship and Eliza Borden, marriage date 14 Mar 1852. Numerous family trees on Ancestry.com conflate the two couples and their children.
Hezekiah Blankenship-1676 was not married to Elizabeth Stacy and has been removed as her husband. Hezekiah Blankenship-1676 was the uncle of Elizabeth Stacy's husband Hezekiah Blankenship-2155.
There is conflicting information about Elizabeth's age. The estimated birth year of 1821 is based on the following:
1850 Census - age 29
1860 Census - age 35 (this seems to be a recording error)
1870 Census - age 48
Elizabeth was still living at the time of the 1870 census. Her husband, Hezekiah, died in 1862 while serving in the Civil War. Some family trees on Ancestry.com also give Elizabeth's death date as 1862, although no sources are given for that date.
The 1870 census lists Elizabeth's children Ruth and Connelly as both being age 10. The 1860 census shows their ages as 5 (Ruth) and 2 (Connelly). The ages from the1860 census are used in the biography above since they seem more plausible. There is no record of Elizabeth having twins.
Elizabeth's daughter Mary "Polly" is listed as follows on census records:
1850 Census - Polly age 11 months
1860 Census - Mary age 7 (this was likely a recording error)
1870 Census - Mary age 20
1880 Census - Mary age 29 (married name Wolford)
