Biography

Maria Lea Victoria St-Onge was born May 21, 1896 at Fannystelle, Manitoba. She is the last of nine children and the last of six daughters of Joseph St-Onge and Leasse Labossiere. Her family moved from the United States to Manitoba about 1881, but appear to have missed the 1881 Canada Census.

[1] continued on next page: WIlliam, 18; Maria, 15; Amanda, 13; Marie Louise, 10; Arthur, 7; Victoria, 5. [2] No census date on sheets.

1911 Canada Census Manitoba 21 Provencher 43 St. Boniface Page 5 Lines 14-19: Joseph St-Onge, 62 [occupation illegible]; wife, Lea St-Onge (Labossiere), 59; four St-Onge children: Maria, 25; Marie Louise, 21; Arthur, 17; Victoria, 15. [3] no census date on sheet.

Maria Lea Victoria St. Onge married Fernando Labossiere at Saint Claude, MB. on June 30, 1914. They were fourth cousins.

1916 Canada Prairies Census Manitoba 4 Macdonald 10 Page 20 Lines 2-4: Fernando Labossiere, 27 farmer; wife, Victoria Labossiere (St-Onge), 20; one daugther, Eveline, about 1 month. [4] No census date on sheet.

In 1921, Fernando and Victoria are living with his widowed father near Somerset.

1921 Canada Census Manitoba Joseph Labossiere, 57 farmer; son, Fernando, 32 farmer; daughter-in-law: Victoria (St-Onge), 25; two Labossiere grand children: Evylein (Evelyn), 6; Lucien, 3. [5] No census date on sheet.

In 1923, Fernando moved his family to the United States and they settled at Seattle, WA. They travelled by train. [6]

1930 US Census Washington King Seattle ED 154 Sheet 11A Lines 17-23: Fernando Labossiere, 40 chicken feeder, packing house; wife, Victoria (St-Onge), 33; four Labosssiere children: Evelyn, 14; Lucien, 11; Laurette, 8; Gabrielle, 6; brother, Maxime, 30 electrician. [7] Census date: April 10, 1930.

Fernando Labossiere died at Seattle on March 15, 1940 at 50 years old.

1940 US Census Washington King Seattle Tract K-3 ED 40-180 Sheet 6A Lines 17-20: Victoria Labossiere, 43; three children: Lucien, 21 news worker; Lauretta, 18 news worker; Gabrielle, 16. [8] Census date: April 6, 1940. Victoria is listed as married, but it was changed to a "?". She is widowed.

Victoria St-Onge-Labossiere passed away at Seattle, WA on Oct. 4, 1966. [9] She was 70 years old.
