Amos Spring was born on 16 December 1779 in Otis, Massachusetts, United States, the son of Amos Spring and Rebecca Curtis Spring.[1][2]
He was married to Reliance Snow.[2] Their children were:[2]
Amos was a Captain in the United State Army during the War of 1812.[2] Find A Grave states that he initially enlisted as a private in the Col. Davies Regiment and was promoted to Second Corporal.[2] He served with Captain Buell.[3] Research by the Whitney Research Group found that he fought in the Battle of Fort Erie with his brother Darius, who was killed at Buffalo, New York.[4] Amos's service as a soldier and his brother's death is also mentioned in the 1888 book Portrait and Biographical Album of Lenawee County, Mich.[5]
Amos died on 9 May 1850 in Attica, Wyoming County, New York.[2] His remains were interred at Warsaw Cemetery in Warsaw, Wyoming County, New York.[2]
Find A Grave states that Amos and Reliance also had a child Sidney Ernest Spring (1802–1898).[2] This is thought to be incorrect. A Wisconsin death record for Sidney Ernest Spring indicates he was born around 1846 (not 1802) and his father's name was Ernest Spring.[6]
