Biography
Mary DeKalb (Minnie) Spradley was born on 6 Sep 1868 in Oxford, Calhoun, Alabama to parents Michael DeKalb Charles Spradley and Elizabeth Boone. She married Henry Washington Sharpton on 8 Oct 1885 in St. Clair County Alabama at her mother's home. They were married by H. D. Bridges, JP. Children: Silas DeKalb, Eula Mertice, James Elbert, Mary Elizabeth, Henry Horace, Grover Cleveland, Delos Islum and Unnamed Infant. She died on 12 Nov 1958 in Crossville, DeKalb, Alabama. She is buried at Hopewell Cemetery, Ashville, St. Clair County, Alabama.

I can actually remember visiting my great aunt where "Granny Sharpton" lived. When we would start to leave, she always wanted a kiss. That memory has stayed with me all my life.
