Research Notes

Original profile showed: " Baptism: Date: 20 AUG 1574 Place: Edworth, Bedford, England the daughter of Michael Spencer."

There is no such baptism in either Edworth or Stotfold. Without a source the baptism date looks fabricated.
I'm not suprised , thats because the bapt. happened in Eastwick, Herts. in 1576. (RS)
Can you give us a source for this statement, and proof that the father was the same Michael who had earlier baptised children in Edworth? But I can see no such baptism in Eastwick either, although there is a baptism of Margaret Spencer in Eastwick on 10 March 1576 the daughter of Mykell Spencer. This was only 3 months before Michael baptised Gerat in Stotfold. I suspect these were two distinct Michaels. A Michell Spencer was buried in Eastwick in 1598, when the Stotfold Michael appears to have been still alive. (DC)

Biography

Family

Husband: Mr Bland
Wife: Katherine Spencer
Marriage:
Date: ABT 1594
Place: Of, Edworth, Bedfordshire, England. Unlikely given that her parents moved from Edworth before or shortly after her birth

With no baptism or marriage she could be anybody, but for the will of her brother Richard Spencer [1]proved 8 Jun 1646 in which he mentions her and her daughters - "To SARAH BLAND and HANNAH BLAND, daughters of my sister Catherine Bland deceased, and to ELIZABETH TOMLYNS, widow, daughter of my brother Jarrard (Gerard) Spencer, deceased, my messuage or tenement situated in Grace Church Street, near the great Inn called the Crosse Keys, late in the tenure of William Toone or his assigns, to be equally divided between them, by the rents, issues and profits thereof during their normal lives. And after the decease of the said Elizabeth Tomlyns and Hannah then I give and devise the said messuage and tenement unto the said SARAH BLAND and her heirs forever."

She died before 17 March 1645/6 when she was described as deceased in her brother Richard's will.[2]

David Cooper has a problem with Katherine Spencer's baptism in Bedfordshire. ***I'm not suprised , because the bapt. happened in Eastwick, Herts. in 1576. (RS)

Her father Michael (Mykell) was formerly taxed in Brauhing Parish, Herts., This Spencer family did not just mull around in Bedfordshire.

Does she need continued project protection? If so, she'll need a project. England?
