Jonathan Spencer was born "about 1767". He was son of Gideon Spencer and Zerviah Buck. ^{[1] [2] [3]}

Jonathan Spencer was added to the list of residents of Vergennes, Vermont in 1790. ^[4]

Jonathan Spencer and Joanna Seeger were married on Nov 25, 1792 in Panton, Addison, Vermont. ^[5]

His farm was "On the road from Vergennes to Addison meeting-house, in the east part of the town.." and later owned by his son George Spencer. "At the corner next south was a tannery owned by the Spencer family... " ^[6]
