Louis (26) married Addie Ann White (14) (born on October 20, 1883 in Nashville; daughter of Michael White and Elizabeth (Lyons) Ferguson) on May 7, 1898 in Jackson.^{[2] [3] [4]}

Their children were:

• James Orville Spencer (1901–1973) born in Missouri.
• Lonnie Addison Spencer (1904–1977) born in Illinois.

In 1917 Louis was working as a police officer and living on Tracy Street in Kansas City, MO. ^[5]}

In 1930, Louis’'s occupation was 'laborer'. He was living at Tracy Avenue and recorded as divorced. ^[6]

Louis was in a directory in 1933 in Kansas City, Missouri, United States.^[7]

In 1940, Louis (69) was living in Kansas City, Jackson with ^[8]

Louis died on May 17, 1951 in Kansas City, Jackson, aged 79.^[9] He was buried in Lincoln Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.

Beware of incorrect connections in Family tree. Do not confuse or conflate. Tennie Mayes was not related to Porter Carmak. Porter was the informant on Tennie’s death certificate because he was close friends with Tennie’s son Louis W. Spencer. Tennie was married to Mayes-2791 but he is not bio dad of Louis. • 1898-There were 2 witnesses at Louis and Addie's wedding in Kansas City listed as Carmack-723 and JoeWhite-80712

Porter Carmack was also the informant on Tennie Mayes' Death certificate. The same address is listed for Porter Carmak and Tennie Mayes , (who is Louis Spencer’s mother).. Research needed on how Porter connects the family members. Researching the witnesses' residences may lead to Addie and Louis' living in the same neighborhood pre 1898. Noted by Spencer-24565. Louis was most likely listed in the 1880 and 1900 US Censuses. He most likely resided in Missouri with Addie in 1900. Neither of these census records have been located. Noted by secret Santa.

We, the family, can deduce that due to the following facts,

1883 Addie Ann White born in Nashville TN

1898 Louis and Addie relocated to MO

1898 Louis and Addie (age 15) married in KC MO

1901 Their first child James aka Orville was born in KC MO

1904 January, Their second child Lonnie was born in CHI IL

1904 thru 1909 we assume the family lives in Cook Co IL (because Lonnie is born there) and we assume divorce either occurred before Lonnie’s birth in 1903 in MO or divorce occurred any year prior to Oct 1911 in IL, when Addie married Fred Johnson. She would have had to be divorced to remarry. :1910 She was not a widow, she was separated or divorced, even though she is recorded as widowed in the census.

1917 Louis is recorded working as a police officer in the KC directory living on Tracy St.

Addie was not Louis' wife when he died in 1951 she was Fred Johnson’s wife until her death in 1954.
