When Levi was about 30 he married Anna Spencer in 1881. The couple had 6 children: Mildred Spencer, Dora Spencer, Edward Spencer, Carrie Spencer, Peachie Spencer and Martha L Spencer.[2]
In the 1900 census Levi (age 50) was living in Sharpsburg, Bath, Kentucky.[3]
When Levi died the local paper had this to say of his character, "Mr. Spencer came to Montgomery county several years ago, and was known to be of a jovial disposition, ever making the best out of a life under adverse conditions. His many old friends are sad to learn that he now has gone the way of the weary traveler."
Before his death in 1915 he would suffer several tragedies including a limb falling on him while he was cutting a tree[4]. The farm he was renting burned to the ground with all of his possessions.[5] Spencer died of pneumonia.
