Camilla was born on 12 May 1848 in Bishopville, Lee, South Carolina, USA. She was the daughter of Charles Spencer and Caroline Dodridge (Holmes) Spencer.^[1]

In the 1850 and 1860 census Camilla (age 2) was living in Sumter, Sumter, South Carolina with her family.^{[1] [2]}

In 1866, when Camilla was about 17, she married Wilson Dupre Scarborough.^[3]

In the 1870 census Camilla (age 22) was living in Bishopville, South Carolina.^[4]

In the 1880 census Camilla (age 32) was living in Bishopville, South Carolina with her husband and six children.^[5]

In the 1900 census Camilla (age 52) was living in Providence, Sumter, South Carolina, USA.^[6]

In the 1910 census Camilla (age 61) was living with her husband, now empty nesters. ^[7]

In the 1920 census, Camilla (age 71) was living widowed in Sumter with her son Rivers and his family. ^[8]
