Luella was born on 19 July 1886 in Bountiful, Davis, UT. She was the daughter of Isaac Asa Spencer and Mary Ellen Burningham.^[1]

When Luella was 27 she married Basil Knud Halvorsen on 13 January 1914 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States. The couple had 4 children: Sherman Basil Halvorsen, Gail Seymour Halvorsen, ? Halvorsen and Marilyn Halvorsen.^[2]
