The History of the Town of Amherst, Massachusetts

1731-1896. The eastern portion of Hadley was made a separate parish in 1735 as "Hadley Third precinct" (becoming Second precinct in 1753); and became the District of Amherst in 1759. It was incorporated as a town in 1775. The records begin 1735.
