How to Add a Profile

To add a Louisiana Savoie profile to the study, copy this text and paste it above the Biography section of the profile: . To add the icon and add the profile to the project, add this instead:

Goals

This is a One Name Study to collect together in one place everything about the Louisiana branches of the Savoie surname. The hope is that other researchers like you will join our study to help make it a valuable reference point for people studying lines that cross or intersect. We can take the part-time research of many and turn it into a comprehensive genealogical picture of our common ancestry that can be shared with all.

To Do List

Many of the Savoie profiles for individuals born prior to 1750 and who emmigrated from Canada to Louisiana were created through the import of GEDCOM files and do not have source data. Others contain links to an individual's Ancestry.com Family Tree - most of which are inaccessible - or links to Data Compilations that do not exist. The profiles are also missing Biographical information, are uncategorized, are unconnected, and in some cases, are duplicates of existing profiles.

Task 1: Categorize these profiles. You can find the complete list of Louisiana categories here: Louisiana Categories. Here are some of the potential categories in a "copy/paste" format:

Louisiana Family

Task 2: Where possible, add biographical information based on factual data from sources that can be referenced by others to profiles that are missing this information. If no information is currently available, you can add the following category to the profile to "flag" it:
Louisiana - Note: If this is added to the Sources section below <references />, it makes the profile easier to read and still flags it as needing sources.
Task 3: Clean up the teltale GEDCOM "mess" and create readable, easy to follow biographies.

Please feel free to add any additional tasks that you believe would benefit this project.

I am interested in joining the Savoie Name Project. I am a descendant of the Savoie line and would like to help.

Hi Shae! Nice work on setting up the page. A suggestion: For a Louisiana Savoie profile, you should probably use Category: Louisiana, Savoie Name Study instead. To have the template add it, add |category:Louisiana, Savoie Name Study

{One Name Study|name=Savoie|category:Louisiana, Savoie Name Study}

(only double the braces beginning/end)

update: I made those changes (adding the category) - and some more. I can't redirect Project:Savoie to a category page, so the redirect still goes to the NB subproject, but I set links to Category:Savoie Name Study and set it up as the umbrella for the two subprojects.
