Meeting Houses
In 1922, this house was moved from its original site on the road that goes up the hill beyond Abraham Manchester's Store (now Tavern) in Adamsville, Rhode Island. The house was on the northwest side of the road at the first turn.
It was originally a Friends Meeting House, date around 1790. It was all hand-built. Its rafters are tree trunks or limbs, held together mostly by handmade wooden pegs, though the owner says there was one metal spike 5" long, which he still has. After the house was bought from the Town of Adamsville, the new owner took it apart and then rebuilt it at its present location on Old Westport Road in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts.Wilbur-403 00:27, 26 August 2018 (UTC) see the image at http://mhc-macris.net/Details.aspx?MhcId=DAR.66
