Thomas Sowden jnr married Mary Ann Hocking on 11 May 1853 in Camborne, Cornwall, England. ^[1]

They emigrated to South Australia with their infant daughter Emily on the Lord Raglan, arriving at Port Adelaide on 24 October 1854. ^[2]

Thomas died on 3 May 1888 in Unley, South Australia, aged 56 years ^[3] and was buried at West Terrace Cemetery. ^{[4] [5]}

SOWDEN. On the 3rd May, at Unley, after protracted suffering, Thomas Sowden, formerly of Castlemaine, Victoria, in his 57th year. ^[6]
